Visualization of the detector geometry

Which detector components are visualized can be controlled in the Eve browser. In the Geometry scene the detector components are listed in the hierarchy as they are created. By double clicking on one component the lower hierarchy level is shown. Be careful that for the STT this process takes very long and should be avoided. A right click on a component opens up a pop-up window which allows to enable or disable all components of one hierarchy.

In the standard settings only the first three hierarchy levels are displayed. This is sufficient for most sub-detectors but e.g. for the MVD this value has to be increased to 10 via the setting VisLevel (see red arrows).

To get a better view of the various detector components it is possible to clip the view by using the Clipping tool of the viewer. This tool can be reached via Viewers, Viewer 1 and the tab Clipping.

Furthermore it is possible to set the global transparency of the complete detector in the Eve browser, FairEventManager, tab Graphics, Global transparency.
